HUIT's greatest asset is its people. Our employees enjoy being part of a talented and supportive team, putting their ideas and expertise toward challenging and meaningful work in support of Harvard's teaching, learning, research, and administrative activities. HUIT staff work in a variety of technical and administrative roles, including on-campus and flexible positions, with opportunities for development and connection to a community of IT professionals across the University. Life at HUIT

Experience

Members of our team play a central role in shaping the employee experience and building a user-focused, collaborative, innovative, and open working environment. Key initiatives include the Staff Council, an independent, self-directed group that partners with senior leadership in thinking about the employee experience; and the Emerging Technology and Innovation Program, which invites staff to identify, test, and assess new technologies for pilot proposals. Regular all-staff Town Halls and social events offer opportunities for connection with colleagues across service areas.

Community

HUIT staff are part of the wider Harvard IT Community, serving all of Harvard's Schools and administrative units. The annual IT Summit brings together University-wide IT staff for collaborative hackathons and keynotes from Harvard faculty and leadership. Communities of Practice enable specialists to gather to discuss best practices and share knowledge. And the IT Mentoring Program and the WIT+ Mentoring Program offer opportunities for coaching and support from peers.

Development

The IT Academy enables each staff person to grow their expertise and people and project management skills through a variety of technical and core IT service delivery subject areas, with opportunities to become an instructor. Staff can also access a variety of skills- based and leadership courses from Harvard's Center for Workplace Development (CWD), and tuition assistance for graduate and undergraduate courses at Harvard and other accredited schools.

Recruitment process

We're committed to providing all our candidates with an efficient and positive recruitment experience. You can expect to have an introductory screening with a Talent Acquisition Professional as well as interviews with the hiring manager and team members. Most interviews are conducted via Zoom.

Onboarding

We have a 12-month onboarding lifecycle to ensure all new staff have the information and support they need to be successful. HR and your manager will support you in your onboarding from day one and all through your first year.
